Description To celebrate Steve Reich’s 70th birthday—and his 35 year relationship with BAM—the 2006 Next Wave Festival kicked off with Steve Reich @ 70, a three-day program featuring music from Reich’s earlier career set to dance by Rosas, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s ensemble. The program was rounded out with a new composition, “Variations for Vibes, Pianos, and Strings,” performed by the London Sinfonietta, with choreography by Akram Khan.
