Description Achterland, performed by the dance company Rosas, is an exploration of the tumultuous relationship between music and the body, and contains music for piano by Ligeti and for solo violin by Eugène Ysaÿe. In reviewing the BAM production for the New York Times Anna Kisselgoff stated that the “viewer encounters something unfamiliar in terms of movement and the context in which it is placed, especially in relation to music, and yet recognizes profoundly that the whole has some relationship to life as it is lived.”
