Description One of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s most acclaimed productions, Peter Brook’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired much of BAM’s 1970s programming. After Brook’s Midsummer—which Harvey Lichtenstein said was the theatrical experience that affected him more than any other—BAM’s focus was increasingly placed upon presenting fresh, unusual interpretations of canonical classics. Brook’s Midsummer was also his first production at BAM, which established a long relationship with the artist that still stands to this day.
