Description Tectonic Theater Project. Written by Moisés Kaufman and members of Tectonic Theater Project. Directed by Moisés Kaufman and Leigh Fondakowski
In 1998, Matthew Shepard, a gay 21-year-old college student, was brutally beaten and left to die on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming.  Weeks later, playwright Moisés Kaufman and members of Tectonic Theater Project traveled to Laramie, where they conducted hundreds of interviews with its residents. Out of this experience, they created The Laramie Project, a theater work that explores a community’s complex reaction to a brutal and senseless murder—and casts a stark, sobering light on a culture of intolerance and fear. Includes pre- and post-show workshops, teacher and student study guides, and post-show Q&A.
