Description BAM Education & Humanities presents a special BAMtalk complementing the Rhythm & BAM program. BAMtalk examines the past, present, and future of black music in America from spirituals, vaudeville, and ragtime to blues, jazz, gospel, classical, R&B, rock, disco, funk, and hip-hop. This panel of critics, musicians, and scholars will discuss the profound and pervasive impact these musical forms have had on American culture. BAMtalk also explores the issues surrounding this music and looks ahead at the emerging generation of musical innovators moving beyond established genres to create new sounds.
