Grades K-12. Among BAM's annual highlights is the DanceAfrica festival. Each year BAM Education features one of the companies from this event in two exhilarating programs exclusively for students and teachers. This year's company, selected by DanceAfrica Artistic Director Chuck Davis, is the dynamic ensemble Farafina Kan: The Sound of Africa, a Washington, DC based company, who will present a selection of music and dance performances from West African cultures. Their music blends traditional music with contemporary styles -- such as reggae, blues, jazz, and hip-hop -- to relfect the African American experience. Includes a pre-show preparation workshop for every class attending the performance, a teacher's study guide, and a post-performance discussion.
