Country of Origin Netherlands
Description The most sought-after dance company on the world stage makes its long-awaited New York return. Not since the brightest days of New York City Ballet, with Balanchine and Robbins working side by side, has there been a comparable constellation of two such potent choreographers complementing each other's creativity. Under the leadership of Jiří Kylián and resident choreographer Hans van Manen, the Nederlands Dans Theater has expanded into three world-class performing ensembles, all presented here in stunning display of the breadth and depth of their exquisite artistry.

NDT 1, the flagship ensemble of Nederlands Dans Theater, presents two programs of all-Kylián works, so compelling in their originality and maturity, they will be a revelation to even Kylián's most ardent fans. NDT 2 is the spawning ground for NDT 1, a company of young dancers aged 17 to 21, who exhibit passion, clarity, and technical assurance in an eclectic program of works by Kylián, van Manen, and Gideon Obarzanek. NDT 3 is a concept, not a company -- an inspired showcase for Martine van Hamel, Gary Chryst, and other mature performers to display their awesome stage presence and theatrical skills in specially created works by an all-star group of choreographers including Martha Clarke and Jiří Kylián.
