November 3 – 15, 1970

Country of Origin United States
Description Presenting the most extensive selection of Cunningham’s work at BAM to date, the Festival of Dance 70-71 included 12 distinct programs by Merce Cunningham and Dance Company. Many vintage classics from the Cunningham repertory were performed, including “Rainforest,” “Walkaround Time,” and “Second Hand,” alongside the more lighthearted “Tread” (which included décor by Bruce Nauman and had premiered at BAM in Cunningham’s previous season in the winter of 1970). This presentation of MCDC also included the world premiere of “Objects,” with décor and lighting by artist Neil Jenney and music by Alvin Lucier.
