Alternate Title BAMfamily / School-Time Performance: Don Byron's Jazz and Cartoons for Kids: Tunes and 'Toons
Production Language English
Country of Origin United States
Description Following a sold-out engagement as part of the kaBAM series last year, Don Byron returns to BAM with an expanded version of the program for high school students. Hailed as a composer and clarinetist, Mr. Byron is eager to share his enthusiasm for jazz greats such as Raymond Scott, Paul Kirby, and Duke Ellington. For Generation BAM he will screen classic Warner Brothers cartoons scored by jazz composers and documentary footage of these legends at work. Examining the entertainment that defined popular culture in the 30s and 40s, his ensemble will perform selections from Byron's CD Bug Music, an irresistible homage to the music of the 'toons. Don Byron's Jazz is an entertaining multimedia presentation that provides a solid introduction to America's great musical tradition and few of its pioneers.
