Description Using the fresh, improvisational spirit of their acclaimed 1994 Next Wave Festival production of As You Like It, Cheek by Jowl returns to BAM with one of Shakespeare's most bewitching and acerbic comedies, Much Ado About Nothing. This lively and enchanting romance comes to life under one of theater's most exciting partnerships, director Declan Donnellan and designer Nick Ormerod.

Much Ado About Nothing is rife with devious match-making and misplaced affections, and roils with Shakespeare's tangled, though perfectly executed, plots and subplots. As noted by John Heilpern of The New York Observer, Cheek by Jowl's innovative, actor-driven productions are "how it must have been. The Bard before he became the textbook Bard, writing a comedy as a riot, a play of theatrical disguises and sexual ambiguity, a comedy about the reality and illusions of life and theater itself."
