Barbara Weisberger, Founder of Pennsylvania Ballet
An informal discussion of hte workings of the company, its philosoophy and the problems and rewards of such an endeavor. Brooklyn-born Barbara Weisberger started a dance school in Philadelphia in 1962. With the advice and encouragment of her friend and mentor, George Balanchine, the Pennsylvania Ballet was formed a year later. Over the years Barbara Weisberger has rallied the finest choreographers to contribute ballets to the company's repertoire which today includes over 70 dance works embracing every significant trend and movement in the evolution of ballet.
