Description Grades 2-7. The brief life and career of Roberto Clemente, the great Pittsburgh Pirate rightfielder, stand as an inspiration to all Americans. The play takes place eight years after Clemente, one of Puerto Rico's most famous sons, died while flying earthquake relief supplies to Nicaragua in 1972. The action revolves around the Baseball Hall of Fame, where Robertito, Clemente's young son, has a magical, moving encounter with his famous father. This is a humorous and touching exploration of pride, heritage, and courage.
