Description Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the great Qawwali singer, makes his American debut in a special concert of the Next Wave Festival. Qawwali singing, which origniated in Persia in the 10th century, is a people's religious music used during Sufi ceremonies to bring a state of ecstasy to all present through its hypnotic rhythms, repeating lyrics and soaring vocals.
