Description Toddlers and tykes jump, jive, and wail to a swinging beat in this early-childhood jazz education program, created by the remarkable teaching artists at Jazz at Lincoln Center. This unique series of workshops—a perennial sellout at its original home uptown—teaches children and their caregivers about the core concepts, instruments, and great performers of jazz.
Gumbo Group (ages 3—5) brings kids of diverse ages together to create a musical ensemble. Participants and their caregivers work together to learn parts, create new beats, and read “scores,” with lines, shapes, and colors that introduce music reading skills.
Stompers (ages 2—3) sing, dance, and play percussion as they engage with improvisation, rhythm, and call-and-response song structures through specially designed activities.
Enrollment is limited to 10 kids (and adults), so sign up soon!
