—Jayme Koszyn, BAM: The Complete Works
As part of BAM's 150 anniversary celebrations, iconic artists examine the evolution of their work at BAM over the years, referencing onscreen projections of original performance footage and images from the BAM Hamm Archives.
From his initial performance with Mabou Mines in 1976 to this season's historic revival of Einstein on the Beach, legendary composer Philip Glass reflects on his extraordinary legacy at BAM in this discussion moderated by composer Nico Muhly. Through his operas, symphonies, scores, and compositions for his own ensemble, Philip Glass has had an extraordinary and unprecedented impact upon the musical and intellectual life of his time. The talk is followed by a screening of the documentary Einstein on the Beach: The Changing Image of Opera.
