Alternate Title L'Histoire du Soldat
Premiere World Premiere
Production Language English
Country of Origin United States
Description L'Histoire du Soldat was originally conceived and composed by Igor Stravinsky and C.F. Ramuz in post-war 1918 Switzerland. Being rather broke at the time, they thought that a small show with a few instruments, actors, and dancers could tour the battle-weary countryside and eke out a few francs. After many trials and tribulations they premiered their piece at last. Unfortunately, the company came down with a severe case of the flu and had to be disbanded after only one performance.

Many years pass.

The Flying Karamazov Brothers were looking for a show that would use a few instruments, actors, and jugglers. After several months of consideration, L'Histoire du Soldat came immediately to mind. The French words were translated to American and then the work was loosely adapted to fit the times and types. After many trails and tribulations the company is premiering its work. Vaccinations have been administered.
