BAM Affiliation One of the few non-Americans to win the American Dance Festival Award, Maguy Marin is often thought of the French counterpart to Pina Bausch, in that her dance work is strongly interwoven with elements of theater. After being mentored by Maurice Béjart, Marin founded Compagnie Maguy Marin, for which she has choreographed over 40 pieces. Her company has appeared in the Next Wave Festival twice, in 1987 and 1989.
