Description The September 19, 1981 edition of the New York Age carried an announcement of a coming concert of classical selections to be held at the Bridge Street Church in Brooklyn. The program promised a magnificent array of talent. Many churches in African American communities were the leading presenters of concert artists in the era leading towards the turn of the century.
