Description London's celebrated Almeida Theatre Company returns to BAM with two of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, Richard II and Coriolanus. Stage and film actor Ralph Fiennes takes the title roles - partnered by Linus Roache as Bolingbroke and Aufidius - at the head of a distinguished company of actors directed by joint Almeida Artistic Director Jonathan Kent.

Coriolanus, set in the same volatile Rome as Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and Antony and Cleopatra, is the story of a legendary Roman warrior whose obstinate nature and obsessive sense of honor lead to exile, revenge, and ultimately, his own death. With a strange and fascinating theme exploring how Coriolanus' horrifying upbringing by his mother results in his rapt desire for military conquest, the complex and dynamic play builds to its inevitable climax as a personal and political tragedy.
