March 30 – 31, 1993, April 3 – 4, 1993

Alternate Title Donald Byrd/The Group
Country of Origin United States
Description The New York premiere of "Drastic Cuts" brings the clean, classic lines, erotic forms, and athletic transitions of master choreographer Donald Byrd to the Majestic Theater stage for a rigorous, nuanced play at intimacy, dependence, dark joy, and the struggle to be free.

Choreographed at a time when the company was experiencing major funding reductions from both the public and private sector, "Drastic Cuts" is a series of works designed to stand alone yet when performed on one stage coalesce to form a vivid and eloquent meditation on relationships and what they mean to us. Composed of three distinct movements, this exhilarating burst of free movement is a celebration of the fundamental elements that form the beauty and power of dance.
