Description New York Times critic Clive Barnes called the Living Theatre’s Frankenstein “an exercise in dramatic collage in which are to be found movement, noise… and the intellectual debris of Western civilization.” Based only loosely on Mary Shelley's novel of the same name, Frankenstein was more visually oriented than Paradise Now in that it maintained the fourth wall and depended less upon dialogue. Considered one the hallmark pieces from the Living Theatre’s late 1960s repertoire, their 1968 performance of Frankenstein at BAM earned them on OBIE.
