Description The LaRocque Bey School of Dance Theatre first performed at BAM in 1968, when LaRocque Bey performed The Soul, Brother alongside stars like Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis. LaRocque Bey, known for being the first African dance school in the US and for performing in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1964 after he received his Nobel Peace Prize, came back to BAM for DanceAfrica in 1992, 1993, 1997, 2002, and finally 2008.
