Next Wave of Song

September 28 – 29, 2012

Alternate Title Next Wave of Song: Tamar-kali: Pseudoacoustic
Premiere US Premiere
Production Language English
Country of Origin United States
Description Next Wave of Song: Ian & Chad

Our Show:
A mix of theatrical whimsy and heartfelt soul from two very odd (and handsome) guys looking to connect through song. There will be a piano. Prepare to smile (Ian & Chad).

Our art is inspired by:
The Nightmare Before Christmas, the Beatles, coconuts, aliens, and the overall lack of positivity in the world. We'd like to change that (Ian & Chad).

Earliest musical memory at the keyboard:
Being three years old at my grandma's house, figuring out how to play "Tequila." Pee-Wee Herman was one of my childhood heroes (Ian).

Next Wave of Song: Tamar-kali

My Show:
My project, Pseudoacoustic, bridges the gap between my New York City rock-scene roots and my love of strings and torch songs. It's probably my most palatable project-a little something for everyone.

One powerful moment as a performer:
Traveling the country to make the film Afro-Punk. It was amazing to witness commonalities that had yet to solidify within a community start to blossom into an international network of people.

The next wave of Tamar-kali is:
A tsunami of sound that swells beyond past heights, crushes categorical isolation, and washes away doubts and expectations.
