Description This program included the premiere of “Changing Steps,” a versatile piece which Cunningham archivist David Vaughn writes can be “performed in any order, in any space and in any combination,” and which “consists of ten solos, five duets, three trios, two quartets, and two quintets.” Music for the piece was collaboratively composed by David Behrman, John Cage, Gordon Mumma and David Tudor, with costume design by Charles Atlas. Also premiered was a solo danced by Cunningham, who wore a hand-painted costume by abstract expressionist artist Sonja Sekula.
