Three Atmospheric Studies

February 28 – March 3, 2007

Premiere New York Premiere
Production Language English
Country of Origin Germany
Description Dubbed William Forsythe’s “Guernica,” Three Atmospheric Studies tackles the difficult subject of war—specifically (and controversially), the Iraq war. If a lesser choreographer were to stage war’s devastation, it would likely come across as politically heavy-handed; though under Forsythe’s watchful eye the dancers’ violent movements retain a focused intensity. The San Francisco Gate summed it up best: “Three Atmospheric Studies is sobering and deeply disturbing. It is incredibly difficult to watch, which is exactly why it ought to be seen.”
