Description At the 30th anniversary of the DanceAfrica Festival, many milestones were passed. It was the largest DanceAfrica gathering to date, bringing together not only the hundreds of dancers and vendors from across the world, but also number of DanceAfrica Elders (who were paid homage in multiple Honoring Ceremonies), as well as dozens of young students who participated by sharing their poetry, stories and performances with BAM audiences. What began with the construction of a small African village by the Chuck Davis Dance Company in the Lepercq Space in 1977 had grown into living, vital community lead by Baba Chuck Davis.
