Description DanceAfrica ’04, subtitled “A Dancer’s Path: Ancient Traditions, Modern Trends,” was a truly multimedia affair. In addition to the usual array of dance offerings—which featured, among others, the Ghanaian troupe Nii Tettey Tetteh and the Kusan Ensemble—this year’s festival included an exhibition of Nigerian painter Bode Fowotade. Film was also an integral component of DanceAfrica ’04. After the success of 2003’s Haitian film festival, more Haiti-related films were screened, as well as a full-blown African film festival screened through the auspices of BAMcinématek.
