Description Lollise is a New York City-based musician, visual artist, and fashion designer from Botswana. She creates stories of real and imagined worlds through sound, color, and movement. After years of collaborating with Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble and Fela Kuti, she released her debut EP Looking At You in 2020. With themes of colonialism, racism, love, and humility at its center, her music is accompanied by self-directed videos full of color and bricolage. Her second EP—Unborn, released in 2022—asks, "Is it better to be unborn than to have lived and died?" Lollise has performed in New York at Never Records x BAM, Little Island Festival, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Symphony Space, and Public Records. Her music has been featured on Okay Africa, Bandcamp Daily, and New Sounds with John Schaefer on WNYC radio.
