Description Alsarah & the Nubatones were born out of dinner conversations between Alsarah and Rami El Aasser, delving into Nubian songs of return, modern migration patterns, and cultural exchanges between Sudan and Egypt. Joined by vocalists and international players of the oud, bass, and other instruments, the group’s sound grew into “East-African retro-pop.” In 2014 they released their critically acclaimed debut album Silt / طمي, alongside the Silt Remixed EP. Their live shows attract audiences from diverse backgrounds, proving that soul knows no cultural or linguistic boundaries.
