Tree: Part 2 of The Geography Trilogy

October 24 – 28, 2000

Premiere New York Premiere
Country of Origin United States
Description Research for Tree, the second installment of the Geography Trilogy, took place across Asia, as Ralph Lemon and his collaborators sought to study the ongoing artistic traditions that stem from Buddhism. In the program notes, Lemon offered his guiding question: “Tree confronts the ‘Africa’ of Geography, Part 1. What becomes of the vital energy and sound of that work here in this supposed Asian ‘quiet,’ a perceived politic of restraint? Above all, Tree is a play on the idea of meta-cultural performance, shaped by a series of episodes composed of fractured questions.”
