Description In a special screening, Kyle Bell presents short films reflecting upon experiences in the Native American community, including a world premiere of his recently finished documentary Lakota, which profiles a young woman grappling with mental health issues in her family. Spirits, supported by the Sundance Institute Indigenous Program, is a poignant story of a Mvskoke Creek youth troubled by what he must leave behind to pursue his dream of playing college basketball, but strengthened by the love of his grandmother. The presentation also features other work in development, as well as a conversation between Bell and Spike Lee focusing on common themes in their storytelling, moderated by TV and film producer Bird Runningwater.
