Description Once again, the most sought-after ticket in Europe last season was for France's thundering equestrian theater troupe Zingaro, which presented its newest production, Eclipse. In its exclusive North American engagement, the star-studded stable of horses, riders, musicians, dancers and acrobats return to the Bigtop at Battery Park City this fall.
In stark, seductive contrasts of black and white, human and horse spiritually merge-a hooded horseman and gleaming Arabian mysteriously commingle to Korean folk music, sable stallions dash through a dusting of snow. Inspired by the pansori musical tradition of Korea, artistic director Bartabas balances intimate, dreamlike moments with heart-pounding feats of equestrian showmanship.
Eclipse artfully evokes the mystery of ancient culture to create an indescribable alchemy of theater, opera and dance, as well as a magical horse show.
