Description Sundance Institute and the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) announced today a new collaboration called Creative Latitude: Sundance Institute at BAM, a series of film screenings, performances, panel discussions, and special events that brings the activities of Sundance Institute and the programming of its annual Film Festival to New York audiences May 11- 20, 2006. The series will include twelve or more of the best new dramatic and documentary feature films and at least six exciting shorts from the January 2006 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and will highlight projects supported by Sundance lnstitute's programs in filmmaking, theatre, and film music. The exact film selection will be determined following the conclusion of this year's Sundance Film Festival. The program is designed to stimulate dialogue between artists and audiences and to provide insight into the creative-and practical- processes of filmmakers, playwrights, and composers. The new collaboration is a key component of a year-round celebration of the 25th anniversary of Sundance Institute. The title Creative Latitude was chosen for its reference to the latitude both organizations give to fresh creative visions, and also whimsically refers to the 40.6 degree latitude shared by Park City, Utah and Brooklyn, New York.
