Description John Plenge, an award-winning composer, booked a session for his 17-year-old daughter Cadence. He enlisted the help of two of his friends Jim Kuras and Timur Yusef who played bass and drums. I was deeply moved by the sensitivity and care of the older musicians who not only treated Cadence as a peer but helped her realize a sophisticated arrangement of her original song. With each session, I perform a script that expresses my transcendental approach to making art and music. I teach the science of the lathe and offer the creation of vinyl as a metaphor for the artistic process. I’ll often gauge a successful session on how receptive participants to the ideas that I express. As I remember we cast a spell that morning, and the recording shows this.
