Country of Origin United Kingdom, England
Description One room. One thousand questions about race. UK-based artist Selina Thompson creates a participatory installation comprising 1,000 questions about race, conscientiously transcribed onto note cards. Race Cards can be thought of as invitations to start a conversation and reflect critically on the complexities and intersections of identity. An evolving archive and research project, Race Cards provides an opportunity to reflect, ask questions of ourselves, and contribute to an archive of feelings, memories, and ideas that too often go unspoken. In this work, visitors are asked to face their own beliefs, hopes, and prejudices—all in an atmosphere of calm and contemplation.
