Heat & Vice: The Films of Michael Mann
The conversation will be moderated by
New York magazine film critic Bilge Ebiri.
Acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann comes to BAM for a rare in-person conversation about his 35-year career in Hollywood. Considered one of the most influential voices in contemporary cinema, Mann got his start in television, winning an Emmy Award as writer and a Director’s Guild of America Award as director on
The Jericho Mile and serving as executive producer for the hit TV show
Miami Vice. In 1981 he released his first feature, the iconic thriller
Thief, and has since made his mark with films that are both “brutal and sentimental, lovely and lurid” (
The New York Times), including
The Last of the Mohicans,
Manhunter,
Heat, and the Oscar-nominated dramas
The Insider and
Ali.
“A master of the form and a full-throttle entertainer”
