Founded by Harlem expatriate Ada Smith DuConge, Bricktop's became an international jazz mecca, drawing Stephane Grappelli, Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, and Louis Armstrong. Pianst Bobby Short, Josephine Premice and the Bross Townsend Trio recapture the flavor of the era, while the spirit of Josephine Baker is evoked in a specially commissioned performance piece.
