October – December, 2001

Production Language English
Country of Origin United States
Description Now entering its third year, The Young Critics Institute is an eight-week program at BAM for students who wish to develop their critical writing skills. Participating students will attend theater and film presentations featured in BAM's Next Wave Festival, and, in after-school workshops, study the art of critical writing. The course is taught by a theater professional, and features guest visits by critics writing for major New York periodicals. Group work, peer editing, and class discussions comprise a major part of the course. Participants are chosen on the basis of a written application and interview, and should show an interest in writing and the arts. At the conclusion of the course, an anthology of the students' work will be published.
