Shakespeare Teaches Teachers

February – May, 2004

Production Language English
Country of Origin United States
Description An after-school professional development workshop series. Eight two-hour workshops plus one Saturday four-hour workshop.
For the seventh year, BAM is offering Shakespeare Teaches Teachers, an intensive series of workshops focused on providing a heightened understanding of Shakespeare and how to approach his work in the high school classroom. The course is led by a university professor in conjunction with BAM teaching artists and features guest workshop leaders. This year's instructor will be SUNY Stony Brook professor and former high school teacher Michael LoMonico, author of The Shakespeare Book of Lists.
During the semester participants examine Shakespeare's work through performance activities, historical context, and textual analysis, and contribute toward the creation of a Shakespeare curriculum for high school. Participants also receive books and a free ticket to A Midsummer Night's Dream.
