In-School Residency: Brooklyn Reads

February 1 – May 1, 2008

Production Language English
Country of Origin United States
Description Brooklyn Reads involves eight in-school workshops held during the spring semester from February through May, culminating in a student performance at BAM in Spring 2008. The program is free to participating classes. We are looking for teachers who will be active partners with teaching artists in executing the program.
Workshops are led by BAM teaching artists who specialize and perform professionally in the spoken word arena. Lessons will be facilitated through the text From Totems to Hip-Hop: A Multicultural Anthology of Poetry Across the Americas, edited by Ishmael Reed. The students learn to read, write, and perform poetry.
