BAM Opera House: The Butthole Surfers, psychedelic hardcore; World Saxophone Quartet with African drummers.

BAM Carey Playhouse: Bobby Previte playing "Claude's Late Morning"; Ned Rothenberg and Paul Dresher, "Opposites Attract"; The Ordinaires, boogies, waltzes and cha-chas in a musical K-Mart.

BAM Lepercq Space: A mini-festival within a festival, "The New Americans" immigrants who combine native traditions with western technology. Aster Aweke (Ethiopia), Thoeung Son Group (Cambodia), Sussan Deyhim with Richard Horowitz (Iran).

BAM Majestic Theater: Tiye Giraud -- this Afro-Caribbean vocalist-percussionist and group explore the trance state; Cachao and Son Primero -- the salsa pioneer in a rare concert of his own compositions; The Horseflies -- neo-primitives who mix bluegrass with everything from minimalism to reggae.
