Youth Summer Program: Style and Substance: Creative Writing Workshop

July 22 – 26, 2013

Production Language English
Country of Origin United States
Description Ages 12-13. Budding wordsmiths find their voices in this intensive course, in which they craft a play or short story over the week. Students share the workshop with a group of fellow writers from Long Island’s Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, and gain insight into the writing process by responding to one another’s work. The week culminates with a reading for friends and family, where students from both programs have their work read by professional actors. No previous experience necessary.

Your child will:
• meet other young writers from across the state
• build style, tone, and voice
• improve critical thinking through responses to fellow students’ work
