Description In-school arts residency with a BAM Education Teaching Artist. Eight 120 minute workshops plus one 6hr workshop on a Saturday. This intensive series of workshops focuses on how to approach Shakespeare's work in the classroom (grades 8-12). Michael LoMonico (Senior Consultant on National Education at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Stony Brook  University professor, author of The Shakespeare Book of Lists and Shakespeare 101, and former high school teacher) leads this course along with BAM's teaching artists and guest workshop leaders. Participants will receive resource books and a ticket to see BAM's presention of The Tempest in March 2010 directed by Sam Mendes with the transatlantic cast of The Bridge Project company. During the semester, participants examine Shakespeare's work through practical performance activities, historical context, and textual analysis. Teachers are also enoucraged to apply for Shakespeare Teaches Students. Preference will be given to teachers whose students are particpaing in the program.
