Description Spinning off the success of last year's inaugural BAMkids Film Festival, kaBAM will include two films from different parts of the world to enhance its live-performance season. Students will see these international films in the state-of-the-art BAM Rose Cinemas. A pre-show preparation team will provide an education program for each film. The films will be screened in their original language with English subtitles, which will be read aloud by professional actors.

Children of the Plains. Japan. 5th - 8th grade. Yoshiko, a young school teacher, is transferred to a small elementary school in a remote rural village. Visiting each of her five students at home makes her realize she must relocate to the countryside in order to be truly effective. Through her experiences in the village sharing a life with the students, she learns the lessons of nature and the power of teaaching -- students learning from teachers as well as the reverse. Children of the Plains is a beautiful and moving introduction to Japanese culture.
