Charlotte Blake Alston breathes life into ancient and contemporary stories, songs, and poetry, derived from the experiences of legendary African-Americans such as Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth. Ms. Alston, accompanied by the shekere, talking drum, and kalimba, takes on the character of Griot, the keeper of the traditions and stories in African villages.
