Description 4th - 12th grades. This seven-week music residency program introduces students to the art of song writing through the study of American folk music. Led by BAM teaching artists, who are also professional musicians, students will discover the role of folk music in American culture throughout the decades and create and perform their own songs and compositions. This program is suitable for students of all levels of musical experience. All participating students will attend a performance at BAM by singer/song-writer Toshi Reagon, who will also lead several of the student workshops.
