Description Performing for BAM’s 1988 Spring season just before leaving the US for an extended stay in Brussels (where Morris and his company replaced Maurice Bejart as the director of dance at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie), the Mark Morris Dance Group presented several of its early Baroque-era classics, including “One Charming Night” and “Fugue and Fantasy.” The program ended on a new note for Morris with “Strict Songs,” a piece set to vocal music by Lou Harrison and dedicated to the memory of Liberace. Originally commissioned by the Seattle Men’s Chorus, its BAM presentation was performed by the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus.
