Description The Mark Morris Dance Group’s first performance in the opera house featured the presentation of three pieces set to Baroque music (performed live by the St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble). Along with the Morris classic “Marble Halls” (set to Bach’s Concerto for Two Harpsichords), the program offered the world premiere of “Pieces en Concert” (set to Couperin) and “Stabat Mater” (set to Pergolesi). The New York Times noted that the then-30-year-old choreographer was greeted with “an enthusiastic reception” from the packed opera house.
