Description This non-linear, dream-like dramatic work originally premiered May 29, 1982 at the Münchner Kammerspiele theater in Munich. Some of the performance’s music was composed by later Wilson collaborators Gavin Bryars and Tania León. Sound for the show was designed and provided by frequent collaborator Hans Peter Kuhn, and, as in previous Kuhn-Wilson collaborations, it provides an agreeable platform for the repetitive and cut-up nature of the play’s text. A New York Times review of the 1985 BAM staging commented on the striking visuals (including a puppet hung from a noose, an elegantly dressed woman holding a silver revolver, a levitating mermaid, among others), noting that Wilson seemed to “bring Paul Delvaux canvases to life.”
