Description Marking Tanztheater Wuppertal’s New York debut, artistic director Pina Bausch presented two totally original pieces—“Café Müller” and “1980”—alongside her highly sensuous choreographic imaging of “The Rite of Spring” and “Bluebeard.” An instant success, Bausch and Tanztheater Wuppertal were invited back to perform in the 1985 Next Wave Festival the following fall, beginning a long friendship between Pina and BAM.
